Key takeaways

  • Two carriers — CareSource and Clear Spring Health — are not offering Medicare Advantage plans in Fulton County for 2027.
  • Sixteen plans are leaving after 2026 and nine new plans are joining; if your plan is non-renewed, you get a Special Enrollment Period to choose a new one.
  • The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026, and any change you make takes effect Jan. 1, 2027.
  • The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026), and the Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 (from $615).

ATLANTA — As the Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 coverage opens Oct. 15, 2026, the Medicare Advantage lineup serving Fulton County is shifting in a few concrete ways: two carriers are leaving the county, sixteen individual plans will not return next year, nine new plans are joining the market, and nine others are keeping their contracts but changing names.

For Atlanta-area shoppers, that means a handful of people will have to pick a new plan, while most will see their current plan renew with the updates spelled out in their Annual Notice of Change.

How Atlanta's 2027 lineup is taking shape

Atlanta is in Fulton County, where Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. For 2026, the county has 97 Medicare Advantage plans from 12 carriers, including a mix of HMO, HMO-POS, PPO and one PFFS plan, plus 39 Special Needs Plans for people with specific conditions, dual Medicare-Medicaid eligibility, or institutional needs.

Comparing the 2026 and 2027 CMS Landscape files, 72 plans are continuing, 16 are leaving after 2026, 9 are new for 2027, 9 are being renamed, and about 20 are changing on something like premium, deductible, plan type or name. The table below lists every plan available in Fulton County, by carrier.

The carriers not returning

Two carriers from the 2026 lineup will not offer Medicare Advantage in Fulton County for 2027:

If you are enrolled in any of those four plans, your coverage will not automatically continue in 2027. CMS grants a Special Enrollment Period for people whose plan is non-renewed, which generally runs from Dec. 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027, so you have time to pick a replacement Medicare Advantage plan or move back to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan.

Individual plans leaving after 2026

Beyond the two exiting carriers, several continuing carriers are dropping specific plans. In alphabetical order by carrier, the plans leaving Fulton County after 2026 include:

If one of these is your current plan, watch for a non-renewal notice from your insurer this fall. It will explain your options and the Special Enrollment Period that applies.

New plans for 2027

Nine plans are joining the Fulton County market for 2027, from five carriers:

Several of the new entries are Special Needs Plans — C-SNPs for people with specific chronic conditions such as kidney disease, and an I-SNP for people living in long-term care facilities. These have eligibility rules beyond just having Medicare, so check the plan's own documents or call the carrier before applying.

Plans with a new name (same contract)

Nine plans are keeping their underlying contract but changing names for 2027. The relabeling is mostly cosmetic, but it can be confusing when you compare your Annual Notice of Change to last year's paperwork. The renames include four Wellcare dual plans adding "Peach State Health Plan" to their names, a Clover Health "Value" plan becoming "Premier," a Devoted C-SNP renamed from "Premium" to "Enhanced," and three UnitedHealthcare dual-eligible plans with new letter-number IDs.

The rest of the carrier picture

Beyond who is leaving and who is new, Fulton County continues to have a broad mix of carriers for 2027, including Aetna (CVS Health), Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), Centene (WellCare), Clover Health, Devoted Health, Elevance Health (Anthem), Humana, Kaiser Permanente, PruittHealth Premier and UnitedHealthcare. Plan types available in the county include HMO, HMO-POS, PPO and one PFFS plan, and every Medicare Advantage plan in the county includes drug coverage.

What's changing program-wide for 2027

Two Part D figures that will matter for every Atlanta shopper are already set by CMS:

The 2027 standard Part B premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not yet been announced; CMS typically publishes those figures in November.

The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan — the optional program that lets you spread your drug costs across the plan year in monthly installments — continues in 2027. You can opt in through your Part D or Medicare Advantage drug plan.

What to do between now and Dec. 7

If you are happy with your current plan and it is continuing for 2027, you do not have to do anything — it will renew automatically with the changes described in your Annual Notice of Change. Read that notice carefully; the premium, deductible, drug list and provider network can shift year to year.

If your plan is on the leaving list above, or you simply want to compare, the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov lets you enter your ZIP code, drugs and preferred providers to see every 2027 plan available in Fulton County side by side.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What happens if my Medicare Advantage plan is not returning in 2027?
Your insurer will send you a non-renewal letter this fall. You can use the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026) to pick a new plan for Jan. 1, 2027, or you can use the Special Enrollment Period that CMS grants for non-renewed plans, which generally runs from Dec. 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027. During that SEP you can join another Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan.
I like my plan and it is on the continuing list. Do I need to do anything?
No. If you do nothing, your current plan renews on Jan. 1, 2027 with the changes listed in your Annual Notice of Change. It is still a good idea to read that notice and compare, because premiums, drug coverage and networks can change each year.
Why did my plan get a new name even though nothing else seems different?
Carriers sometimes rename plans while keeping the same underlying contract. In Fulton County, nine plans — from Centene (WellCare), Clover Health, Devoted Health and UnitedHealthcare — are being renamed for 2027. Your Annual Notice of Change will show both the old and new names so you can match them up.
Where can I compare the 2027 plans for my ZIP code?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, or call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Both will show you every Medicare Advantage and Part D plan available at your address, with the official 2027 details. ## Where to go next For personalized answers, start with the official sources: **medicare.gov** for the Plan Finder and your account, and **1-800-MEDICARE** for help by phone. Your Annual Notice of Change and Evidence of Coverage from your current plan are the definitive word on how your specific plan is changing for 2027.
