MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer news site. We are not Wellcare, and Wellcare is one of 11 carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Marion County for 2027 (79 plans in all).
Which Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Indianapolis for 2027?
Indianapolis is in Marion County, where Wellcare is offering three Medicare Advantage plans for the 2027 plan year: Wellcare Giveback Open (PPO), Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS) and Wellcare Simple Open (PPO). All three include prescription drug coverage. The table below lists every Wellcare plan available in the county next year.
By plan type, that is one HMO-POS and two PPOs. Wellcare is not offering any Special Needs Plans — no D-SNP, C-SNP or I-SNP — in Marion County for 2027. Other carriers in the county may offer SNPs; you can check that on the Medicare Plan Finder.
What is new or not returning from Wellcare in Marion County for 2027?
No Wellcare plans are new for 2027, and three plans offered in 2026 are not returning. If you are enrolled in a plan that is leaving, Wellcare is required to send you a notice, and you have the Annual Enrollment Period and the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31, 2027) to make a change.
Even if your plan is returning, the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) sent in late September spells out what is different for 2027 — things like the drug formulary, provider network, copays and extra benefits can shift from one year to the next.
What happens if I do nothing before December 7?
Nothing happens to you automatically if your plan is returning: it renews January 1, 2027 with the changes described in the ANOC. If your current Wellcare plan is one of the three not returning, you will need to pick a new plan during AEP, or you will be moved back to Original Medicare and may need to arrange Part D drug coverage separately.
How do I check a Wellcare plan against my doctors and prescriptions?
The most reliable tool is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code and your prescriptions, and the tool shows each plan's drug costs, pharmacy network and whether a given doctor or hospital is in-network. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A few steps worth doing before December 7, 2026:
- Read your 2027 ANOC side-by-side with the plan you are considering.
- Call your doctors' offices and confirm they will accept the specific plan next year — networks can change on January 1.
- Check each of your prescriptions on the plan's 2027 formulary, including the tier and any prior-authorization rules.
- Confirm your pharmacy is in the plan's preferred network.
What 2027 Medicare figures are already set?
A few program-level numbers for 2027 are confirmed by CMS. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33 — that is a formula input, not what any specific plan charges.
The 2027 standard Part B premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS usually publishes those in the fall, often in November. The coverage gap (the old "donut hole") remains gone — Part D has three phases now — and the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is still available if you want to spread drug costs across the year.
