What UnitedHealthcare is offering in Suffolk County for 2027

The CMS 2027 Landscape file lists eight UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans available to people with Medicare in Suffolk County next year. By plan type, that breaks down as:

All eight include Part D prescription drug coverage. Four of the eight are Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs), designed for people who qualify for both Medicare and MassHealth (Massachusetts's Medicaid program). UnitedHealthcare is not offering a Chronic Condition SNP (C-SNP) or Institutional SNP (I-SNP) in the county for 2027.

The table on this page lists every UnitedHealthcare plan by name and plan type. In alphabetical order, those plans are AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC MA-0003 (HMO-POS), AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC MA-0006 (PPO), AARP Medicare Advantage Patriot No Rx MA-MA01 (PPO), AARP Medicare Advantage Patriot No Rx MA-MA2 (HMO-POS), UHC One Care MA-Y3 (HMO D-SNP), UHC One Care MA-YL (HMO D-SNP), UHC Senior Care Options MA-Y001 (HMO D-SNP), and UHC Senior Care Options MA-YL (HMO D-SNP).

What is new, what is renamed, and what is not returning

Comparing the CMS 2026 and 2027 Landscape files side by side for Suffolk County:

A renamed plan is not automatically the same plan with a sticker change. The benefits, provider network, drug formulary and costs can shift between plan years. That is what the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan mailed in September is for — it spells out what is different in 2027 compared with 2026.

Special Needs Plans in the UnitedHealthcare lineup

Four of UnitedHealthcare's eight Suffolk County plans for 2027 are D-SNPs: two UHC One Care plans and two UHC Senior Care Options plans. In Massachusetts, One Care and Senior Care Options are the state's integrated programs for people who have both Medicare and MassHealth, with age ranges set by the state. If you are dually eligible, these are plans designed for you; if you are not dually eligible, you cannot enroll in them.

How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions

Before December 7, 2026, three checks matter more than anything else:

1. Your doctors and hospitals. Go to medicare.gov, open the Plan Finder, enter your ZIP code, and look up each specific plan's provider directory. Call the office to confirm in-network status for 2027 — directories can lag. 2. Your prescriptions. Enter every drug, dose and pharmacy into the Plan Finder. The tool shows each plan's formulary tier and your estimated yearly drug cost for that plan. 3. The 2027 Part D rules that apply to every plan. The Part D out-of-pocket cap is $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). The Part D maximum deductible a plan may charge is $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which lets you spread drug costs over the calendar year, continues to be available on request.

CMS has not yet announced the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, or the 2027 IRMAA income brackets. Those figures are typically published in the fall. Until they are, treat any specific 2027 Part B number you see online as not yet official.

How UnitedHealthcare fits into the Suffolk County picture

Suffolk County has 11 carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, with 50 plans in total. UnitedHealthcare's 8 plans are one slice of that. Nothing about the number of plans a carrier offers tells you whether any single plan is right for you — that depends on your doctors, your medications, your budget and whether you want HMO, HMO-POS or PPO rules around referrals and out-of-network care.

If you do nothing

You do not have to act during the Annual Enrollment Period. If your current plan is being offered again in 2027, it renews automatically on January 1 with the changes listed in its ANOC. If a plan you are in is being discontinued, Medicare and the plan will notify you, and you get a Special Enrollment Period to pick something else. For UnitedHealthcare in Suffolk County, no plans are being discontinued for 2027.

Frequently asked questions

Is MyMedicarePlans.org part of UnitedHealthcare or Medicare?
No. MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer news and education site. We are not UnitedHealthcare, not AARP, and not the federal Medicare program. For official plan documents, use medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What is the deadline to change my Medicare Advantage plan for 2027?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. Changes made in that window take effect January 1, 2027. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan on January 1, you also have the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 through March 31, 2027 to switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare one time.
How do I know if a plan covers my doctor and my prescriptions?
Use the Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code, your prescriptions and your pharmacies, and the tool shows each plan's formulary and estimated yearly drug cost. For providers, check the plan's online directory and then call your doctor's office to confirm the plan is in-network for 2027.
My plan was renamed for 2027 — is it still the same plan?
Not necessarily. A rename on the CMS Landscape file means the plan has a new contract number or marketing name. The benefits, network and drug list may also have changed. Read the Annual Notice of Change your plan sent in September to see what is different for 2027. ## Where to go for official information **medicare.gov** — the Plan Finder, your personalized plan comparison, and the official Medicare & You handbook. **1-800-MEDICARE** (TTY 1-877-486-2048) — personalized help, 24/7.
