Key takeaways

  • Anthem will offer nine Medicare Advantage plans in Dallas County in 2027 — four HMOs and five HMO-POS plans, all with drug coverage.
  • Six of those nine plans are new for 2027, and three plans Anthem sold in 2026 are not coming back; the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your current plan spells out what is different.
  • Seven of the nine are Special Needs Plans (three D-SNPs and four C-SNPs) for people with Medicaid or certain chronic conditions.
  • You have until December 7, 2026 to make a change for coverage that starts January 1, 2027; if you do nothing and your plan is returning, it simply renews.

MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent news and education site. We are not Anthem, and we are not Medicare. Anthem is one of 12 carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Dallas County next year, and all carriers together will offer 84 plans.

What Anthem is offering in Dallas County for 2027

Dallas is in Dallas County, and Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. For 2027, Anthem's nine Dallas County plans — listed alphabetically — are:

Every one of these plans includes Part D drug coverage. The table on this page lists them in full.

What's new and what's not returning

Six of Anthem's nine Dallas County plans are new for the 2027 plan year, which is a big share of the lineup. Three plans the carrier offered in 2026 are not being renewed in Dallas County for 2027.

If you are already in an Anthem plan, you should receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) by late September 2026. That document is the official source for what your specific plan is doing next year — whether it is renewing with changes, being replaced, or going away. If your current plan is not returning, you have a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new plan.

Understanding the plan types

Most of Anthem's Dallas lineup is Special Needs Plans — seven of the nine. Those come in two flavors here:

The other two are standard HMO-POS plans open to any Medicare beneficiary in the service area. Anthem is not offering any Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs) in Dallas County for 2027.

To join a SNP, you have to meet the eligibility rules for that specific plan. If you are not sure whether you qualify, the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov and 1-800-MEDICARE can walk you through it.

How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions

Before December 7, these are the checks worth doing for any plan you are considering:

1. Your doctors and hospitals. Call the plan or check its online provider directory to confirm the specific providers you use are in network for 2027. Networks can change year to year. 2. Your prescriptions. Pull up the plan's 2027 formulary (drug list) on medicare.gov and search each of your medications. Confirm the tier, whether prior authorization or step therapy applies, and which pharmacies are preferred. 3. Your total costs. Look at the premium, deductible, copays and the plan's maximum out-of-pocket limit together — not any one of them alone. 4. Your extras. If dental, vision, hearing, over-the-counter or transportation benefits matter to you, read how each plan defines them in its Evidence of Coverage.

The Medicare Plan Finder lets you enter your drugs and pharmacies once and compare every plan in Dallas County side by side.

The 2027 program figures that are set

A few 2027 numbers from CMS are already confirmed and apply to everyone with Part D, no matter which plan you pick:

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those in the fall, usually November.

The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan — the option to spread your out-of-pocket drug costs across the calendar year in monthly installments — continues to be available for 2027.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I do nothing before December 7?
If your current plan is being offered again in 2027, it renews automatically with whatever changes are described in your Annual Notice of Change. If your plan is one of the three Anthem plans not returning in Dallas County, you will get a notice from the carrier and a Special Enrollment Period to choose a new plan.
Is Wellpoint the same company as Anthem?
Yes. Wellpoint is the brand Anthem (part of Elevance Health) uses for its Medicare Advantage plans in Texas and some other states. CMS lists the parent organization as Elevance Health (Anthem).
Can I switch plans after December 7 if I change my mind?
If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan on January 1, you have the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 to March 31, 2027 to switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare. Outside those windows, you generally need a Special Enrollment Period.
How do I know if I qualify for a D-SNP or C-SNP?
D-SNPs require that you have both Medicare and Medicaid. C-SNPs require a qualifying chronic condition — the specific list depends on the plan. The plan will verify eligibility before enrolling you, and 1-800-MEDICARE can confirm whether a particular SNP is open to you. ## Where to go for official answers For personalized help comparing Anthem's Dallas County plans against your doctors, prescriptions and budget: **medicare.gov** — the Medicare Plan Finder shows every 2027 plan in Dallas County with full cost and benefit detail. **1-800-MEDICARE** (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
