What UnitedHealthcare is offering in Bexar County for 2027
The table below lists every UnitedHealthcare plan available in Bexar County for 2027. By plan type, there are 9 HMO-POS plans and 4 PPO plans. All 13 include Part D prescription drug coverage.
Seven of the 13 are Special Needs Plans (SNPs), built for people in specific situations:
- 4 Dual Eligible SNPs (D-SNPs), for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid
- 2 Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs), for people with qualifying chronic conditions
- 1 Institutional SNP (I-SNP), for people living in a nursing home
If an SNP does not fit your situation, it is not one you can enroll in — SNPs have eligibility rules on top of regular Medicare eligibility.
What is new, renamed, or not returning for 2027
Three UnitedHealthcare plans are new to Bexar County for 2027:
- UHC Dual Advantage TX-V11 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
- UHC Dual Complete TX-Q6 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
- UHC Dual Complete TX-Y1 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
One plan is being renamed. What CMS listed this year as UHC Medicare Advantage TX-0030 (Regional PPO) appears for 2027 as AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-61 (Regional PPO). A rename does not automatically mean the plan is identical — the Annual Notice of Change for that plan will spell out any benefit, cost or network changes.
Seven plans UnitedHealthcare offered in Bexar County this year are not returning for 2027. If you are enrolled in one of them, you should receive a non-renewal notice from the plan this fall. You will have the Annual Enrollment Period, and separately a Special Enrollment Period for plan terminations, to choose something else.
How to read your Annual Notice of Change
If you are already in a UnitedHealthcare plan that is returning for 2027, you should have received (or will soon receive) an ANOC in September. It compares your 2026 plan to the 2027 version of the same plan. Skim for:
- Monthly premium and deductible changes
- Changes to copays for primary care, specialists, and hospital stays
- Formulary changes — a drug you take may move tiers, require prior authorization, or come off the list
- Network changes — a provider or hospital may be in next year and out the next, or vice versa
- Extra benefits (dental, vision, hearing, OTC, transportation) being added, trimmed, or redefined
The ANOC is the single most useful document you will get this fall. If yours did not arrive, call the number on your member ID card.
Checking a plan against your doctors and prescriptions
Before December 7, 2026, it is worth spending 20 minutes on medicare.gov's Plan Finder. You can:
1. Enter your ZIP code and pick "Medicare Advantage Plan." 2. Add every prescription you take, with dose and frequency, and your preferred pharmacy. 3. Add your doctors so the tool can flag whether they are in a plan's network. 4. Compare the plans side by side — costs, star ratings, extra benefits, and total estimated yearly drug cost based on your medications.
Networks and formularies change every January 1. A plan that worked last year may not include the same specialist or cover the same drug the same way next year. For anything you cannot confirm on medicare.gov, call the plan directly using the number on its summary page, or 1-800-MEDICARE.
Program-level numbers worth knowing for 2027
A few Part D figures for 2027 are already set by CMS:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026).
- The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026).
- The Part D national base beneficiary premium is $41.33 for 2027. That is a formula input used across the program, not what any specific plan charges.
The coverage gap (the old "donut hole") has been gone since 2025 — Part D now has three phases. If drug costs land heavy early in the year, ask your plan about the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan, which spreads what you owe into monthly installments.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, are not out yet. CMS typically announces those in the fall, usually in November.
If you want to keep things the same
Nothing happens to someone who does nothing. If your current plan is offered again in 2027, it renews on January 1 with the changes described in the ANOC. If your plan is on the not-returning list, you have time — through December 7, 2026 for an AEP choice, plus a Special Enrollment Period tied to the termination — to pick a different plan or return to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D plan.
