HENDERSON, Nev. — For residents who have both Medicare and Nevada Medicaid, the 2027 lineup of Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) in Clark County is now set, and the Annual Enrollment Period that opened Oct. 15 runs through Dec. 7, 2026. Six carriers plan to offer D-SNPs here next year, with new names, renamed plans, and a handful of brand-new options worth a careful read before any change is made.
What a D-SNP is, in plain terms
A Dual Special Needs Plan is a type of Medicare Advantage plan built for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. It bundles Part A, Part B and Part D drug coverage, and it coordinates with the Medicaid benefits the state already provides. Every D-SNP in Clark County for 2027 includes drug coverage.
D-SNPs are not a separate program. They are Medicare Advantage plans with extra rules about who can join and how care is coordinated with Medicaid.
Who qualifies: full vs. partial dual eligibility
To join a D-SNP, you must have Medicare (Part A and Part B) and some level of help from Nevada Medicaid. There are two broad groups:
- Full dual eligible. Medicaid covers your Medicare cost sharing and provides full Medicaid benefits. Some D-SNPs are designed specifically for this group.
- Partial dual eligible. You get help from a Medicare Savings Program (for example, Medicaid pays your Part B premium, or your Part B premium plus some cost sharing) but not full Medicaid benefits. Some D-SNPs are designed for this group.
Each D-SNP spells out which category it accepts. If your Medicaid status changes during the year, your eligibility for a specific D-SNP can change too.
How to confirm your eligibility
The quickest way to know where you stand:
- Call Nevada Medicaid (Division of Welfare and Supportive Services) to confirm whether you are full or partial dual and which category you fall into.
- Call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, to confirm your Medicare status and ask which Clark County D-SNPs match your category.
- Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov to compare plans side by side.
Keep your Medicare card and any Medicaid letters nearby when you call — the exact wording on those letters tells the representative which bucket you are in.

How often a dual-eligible person can change plans
Most Medicare members can only change plans during set windows. People with Medicaid or Extra Help have more flexibility.
- Annual Enrollment Period: Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026. Anyone with Medicare can join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan for Jan. 1, 2027.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment: Jan. 1 – Mar. 31, 2027. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch to another one or return to Original Medicare (with a drug plan).
- Special Enrollment Period for dual-eligible and Extra Help members. Under current rules, you generally get a monthly chance to enroll in an integrated D-SNP or move back to Original Medicare with a Part D plan. The rules on how often, and into which type of plan, have been tightening in recent years. Always confirm the current rule at 1-800-MEDICARE before you act.
- Life-change SEPs. Moving out of your plan's service area, losing other coverage, or a change in your Medicaid status can also open a window to switch.
If you do nothing by Dec. 7, 2026, your current plan rolls over into 2027 as long as it is still offered. Your ANOC (mailed in late September) explains any changes to that plan for the new year.
