Key takeaways

  • Clark County, home to Henderson, has nine Medicare Advantage plans that are new for 2027, from Aetna, Centene (WellCare), Humana, SCAN Health Plan, Select Health, and UnitedHealthcare.
  • A brand-new plan does not have a Medicare Star Rating yet, because ratings are built from past performance data the plan has not collected.
  • Before you switch, confirm your doctors are in the plan's network and your prescriptions are on its drug list using the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE.
  • If you do nothing by December 7, 2026, your current plan simply renews for 2027 with the changes described in its Annual Notice of Change (ANOC).

HENDERSON, Nev. — Fall 2026 is Medicare's busy season, and shoppers in Henderson have a few names on the 2027 lineup they have never seen before. Clark County, which includes Henderson, will have nine Medicare Advantage plans that are brand new for 2027, offered by six carriers. If one of them catches your eye during the Annual Enrollment Period, which runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, there are a few practical checks worth doing before you sign up.

Which Medicare Advantage plans are new in Henderson for 2027?

Nine Medicare Advantage plans are new to Clark County for 2027, out of the 72 plans offered there next year. Henderson sits inside Clark County, so these are the new names a Henderson resident can shop. Listed alphabetically by carrier, with plan type and whether drug coverage is included:

The table below lists every plan available in the county, new and returning, so you can see the full field.

Which new plans in Henderson are Special Needs Plans?

Six of the nine new plans in Clark County are Special Needs Plans (SNPs), which only accept people who meet specific eligibility rules. SNPs come in three flavors:

If a plan is a SNP and you do not meet the eligibility rule, you cannot enroll — the plan isn't for the general market.

Do the new plans in Henderson include drug coverage?

Seven of the nine new plans include Part D prescription drug coverage. Two do not: Select Health Medicare Veterans (HMO) and AARP Medicare Advantage Patriot No Rx NV-MA2 (HMO-POS). Plans without drug coverage are often aimed at people who get prescriptions through another source, such as the VA.

If a plan does not include Part D, you generally cannot bolt a standalone Part D plan onto a Medicare Advantage plan (except for some PPO situations and MSA plans). That is worth confirming on medicare.gov before you enroll.

For reference, Part D in 2027 will have an out-of-pocket cap of $2,400 (up from $2,100 in 2026) and a maximum deductible of $700 (up from $615 in 2026). The 2027 Part B premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA brackets, have not been announced yet; CMS typically publishes those in the fall.

How is a new Medicare Advantage plan different from one that is renewing?

A renewing plan has a track record — enrollment history, claims data, and a Medicare Star Rating that reflects things like customer service, drug pricing accuracy, and member complaints. A brand-new plan has none of that yet, simply because the data to build a rating does not exist.

That is a fact, not a warning. New plans launch every year, and plenty perform well. It just means your usual shortcuts — "I'll glance at the stars" — do not apply. You have to look at the plan documents themselves: the Summary of Benefits, the provider directory, and the formulary (drug list).

Separately for 2027 in Clark County, 11 plans are not returning, 9 are new, and 15 have been renamed. A rename is not a cancellation, but the plan's Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) will spell out what shifted.

How do I check a new plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?

Three steps, in this order:

1. Make a list. Write down every doctor and specialist you want to keep, plus every prescription you take — name, dose, and how often. Pharmacy matters too; some plans have preferred pharmacies. 2. Use the Medicare Plan Finder. Go to medicare.gov, enter your ZIP code and drugs, and the tool will show how each plan handles them, including estimated yearly drug costs and whether a prescription needs prior authorization. 3. Verify with the plan. Networks and formularies can change. Call the plan directly (the number is on medicare.gov) and ask whether your specific doctors are in-network for 2027 and whether your drugs are covered at your pharmacy. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE for help, 24 hours a day.

If you do nothing by December 7, 2026, your current plan renews on January 1, 2027 with whatever changes are in its ANOC. There is also a Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period from January 1 to March 31, 2027, during which you can switch Advantage plans or drop back to Original Medicare one time.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Does a new Medicare Advantage plan have a Star Rating?
No. Medicare Star Ratings are built from past performance data, so a plan in its first year does not have one yet. That is a program rule, not a judgment of the plan.
Am I automatically enrolled in a new plan if my current one is going away?
Not necessarily. If your plan is one of the 11 in Clark County that are not returning for 2027, you'll get a non-renewal notice explaining your options and any special enrollment rights. You can pick any plan available in Henderson during the Annual Enrollment Period that ends December 7, 2026, or use the special enrollment period that applies when a plan leaves.
Can I switch again if I don't like the new plan I picked?
Yes, within limits. From January 1 to March 31, 2027, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period lets you switch Medicare Advantage plans once or return to Original Medicare (and add a standalone Part D plan). After that, you generally wait for the next Annual Enrollment Period unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
Where can I get free, unbiased help comparing plans in Henderson?
Medicare.gov has the Plan Finder tool and plan documents for every option in Clark County, and 1-800-MEDICARE is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Both are free and will not try to sell you a specific plan.
