Kaiser Permanente's 2027 Medicare Advantage plans in Reno: three HMOs, one new, three gone
RENO, Nev. — Fall 2026. Kaiser Permanente's Medicare Advantage lineup in Washoe County looks different for 2027. The carrier is offering three Medicare Advantage HMO plans next year — one of them brand new — while three plans from its 2026 lineup are not returning, and two of the plans that are coming back are returning under new names. If you are already enrolled, your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) is the document that tells you exactly what is shifting on your plan. If you want to switch, the Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any change takes effect January 1, 2027.

What Medicare Advantage plans does Kaiser Permanente offer in Reno for 2027?
Kaiser Permanente is offering 3 Medicare Advantage plans in Washoe County, where Reno is located, for 2027. All three are HMOs. One of them is a Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP), designed for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. Two of the three plans include Part D prescription drug coverage; one does not.
The table on this page lists every Kaiser Permanente plan available in the county, spelled as CMS lists them. In alphabetical order, the 2027 plans are:
- KP Medicare Duals H2960-024 (HMO D-SNP) — HMO D-SNP, with drug coverage
- KP Medicare Liberty H2960-009 (HMO) — HMO, without drug coverage
- KP Medicare Value H2960 028 (HMO) — HMO, with drug coverage
For premiums, copays, provider networks, drug formularies and star ratings, use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE. Those details are specific to each plan and change year to year.
What is new or not returning from Kaiser Permanente in Washoe County for 2027?
For 2027 in Washoe County, Kaiser Permanente has 1 new plan — KP Medicare Value H2960 028 (HMO) — and 3 plans from its 2026 lineup that are not returning. Two of the plans that are returning come back under different names: KP Medicare Duals H2960-024 (HMO D-SNP) was called Senior Care Plus Extensive Duals Plan (HMO D-SNP) in 2026, and KP Medicare Liberty H2960-009 (HMO) was called Senior Care Plus Patriot Plan (HMO) in 2026.
A renamed plan is not necessarily the same plan it was last year — benefits, cost shares and networks can change. The ANOC that your plan mails each fall is the document that tells you what is changing for your specific plan on January 1. If your 2026 plan is one of the three that is not returning, you will receive a non-renewal notice from the carrier; you then have a window to pick another plan.
What other Medicare Advantage carriers are in Washoe County for 2027?
Kaiser Permanente is one of 9 carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Washoe County for 2027. Across all carriers, there are 42 Medicare Advantage plans available in the county next year. This article covers only Kaiser Permanente because that is its focus; our other articles cover the other carriers plan by plan.
Plan availability is set at the county level by CMS, not city by city. If you live in Reno, Sparks, Incline Village or elsewhere in Washoe County, you see the same Medicare Advantage menu.
How do I check a plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. You can enter your ZIP code, list the prescriptions you take with their dosages, and the tool will show plans available in Washoe County along with estimated yearly drug costs under each one. To check whether a specific doctor, hospital or clinic is in a plan's network, use the plan's own provider directory on the carrier's website or call the plan directly — networks can change on January 1, so a doctor who is in-network in 2026 may or may not be in 2027.
A good checklist before you choose:
- Pull up your current plan's Annual Notice of Change and read what is changing for 2027.
- Enter your drugs in the Medicare Plan Finder and compare total estimated yearly cost, not just premium.
- Confirm each doctor and pharmacy you use is in the 2027 network of any plan you are considering.
- If you qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, ask about D-SNPs specifically.
If you do nothing by December 7, 2026, and your plan is being offered again in 2027, you stay on it with whatever changes the ANOC describes.
What is changing across Medicare itself for 2027?
Some program-wide figures for 2027 are already set by CMS. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026). The Part D maximum deductible a plan can charge rises to $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026). The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33; that is a formula input CMS uses, not a figure any particular plan charges.
Other 2027 numbers have not been announced yet. CMS publishes the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets and surcharges, later in the fall — usually in November. We will update our coverage when those come out.
The coverage gap (the old "donut hole") remains eliminated as of 2025, so Part D now has three phases instead of four. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan — an option to spread your drug costs across the year in monthly payments — remains available in 2027.
