MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer news site. We are not Anthem and not affiliated with Medicare. Anthem is one of nine carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Hudson County for 2027 — the full county market has 48 plans across all carriers.
What Anthem Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Jersey City for 2027?
Jersey City is in Hudson County, where Anthem (CMS lists the parent company as Elevance Health) will offer three Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. By type, that is two HMO plans and one HMO-POS plan. All three include Part D prescription drug coverage. Two are Special Needs Plans — one D-SNP for people with both Medicare and Medicaid, and one C-SNP designed for people with a qualifying chronic condition.
The three plans are listed in the table below. In alphabetical order, they are:
- Wellpoint Extra Help (HMO)
- Wellpoint Full Dual Advantage (HMO D-SNP)
- Wellpoint Kidney Care (HMO-POS C-SNP)
We are naming plans so you can find them on Medicare's Plan Finder. We are not attaching premiums, copays, benefits, networks or ratings to any of them here — those details change by plan and belong in each plan's own Evidence of Coverage.
What is new or not returning from Anthem for 2027 in Hudson County?
For 2027, Anthem has one new Medicare Advantage plan in Hudson County and one plan from 2026 that is not returning. Nothing is being renamed on this carrier's roster.
If the plan you are enrolled in today is the one not continuing into 2027, Anthem is required to send you a non-renewal notice explaining your options and the timeline to pick a new plan. If your plan is continuing, look for the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) that arrived (or will arrive) in September. It lists every change for 2027 — the premium, the deductible, the drug tiers, the provider network, the extras.
What should I check before December 7, 2026?
Before the December 7, 2026 deadline, check three things against the 2027 version of any plan you are considering: your doctors, your prescriptions, and your pharmacies. All three can change year to year.
The cleanest way to do this is on medicare.gov:
1. Go to the Medicare Plan Finder and enter your ZIP code. 2. Type in each of your prescription drugs with the dose and how often you take them. 3. List the pharmacies you use. 4. Open the 2027 plan you want to check and look at: is each drug covered, which tier is it on, is your pharmacy "preferred," and are your doctors and hospitals in the network for next year.
You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and ask the representative to walk through a specific plan with you. If you want to confirm a provider is in network, call the provider's office directly and ask whether they will accept the specific 2027 plan — not just "Anthem" or "Wellpoint" in general.
What happens if I do nothing before December 7?
If you do nothing, your current Medicare Advantage plan renews on January 1, 2027, as long as the plan is still offered in Hudson County. You keep your coverage without a gap — but you keep it with the 2027 changes described in your ANOC, not the 2026 version you signed up for.
If your plan is not returning, you will get a letter from the carrier. In that case you have a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new plan, and you can also return to Original Medicare. Doing nothing in that situation can leave you on Original Medicare without a Part D drug plan on January 1, so it is worth acting on the letter when it arrives.
What is changing in Medicare itself for 2027?
A few program-level numbers are already confirmed for 2027, and they apply no matter which plan or carrier you choose:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. Once your drug spending at the pharmacy counter reaches that cap, you pay $0 for covered Part D drugs the rest of the year.
- The Part D maximum deductible is $700 in 2027, up from $615 in 2026. Plans can set a lower deductible or none; this is the ceiling.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is still available — it lets you spread your out-of-pocket drug costs across the year in monthly installments instead of paying at the counter.
- The coverage gap, or "donut hole," remains eliminated. Part D has three phases now: deductible, initial coverage, and catastrophic.
The 2027 standard Part B premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS normally publishes those figures later in the fall. We will update coverage when they are released; do not accept any number you see quoted as "the 2027 Part B premium" until CMS posts it.
