This article walks through the 2027 lineup plan by plan, explains what the plan types mean, and shows how to check any plan against your doctors and prescriptions before the December 7, 2026 deadline. MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site and is not UnitedHealthcare; other carriers also sell Medicare Advantage plans in Dallas County.

How many UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans will be offered in Dallas County in 2027?

UnitedHealthcare will offer 15 Medicare Advantage plans in Dallas County for the 2027 plan year, according to the CMS Medicare Advantage Landscape Source File. By plan type, that breaks down to 11 HMO-POS plans and 4 PPO plans. All 15 include Part D prescription drug coverage.

Within that count, 7 plans are Special Needs Plans (SNPs): 4 Dual Eligible SNPs (D-SNP) for people with both Medicare and Medicaid, 2 Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNP), and 1 Institutional SNP (I-SNP). The full plan-by-plan list is in the table below.

For context, 11 other carriers also sell Medicare Advantage plans in Dallas County for 2027, and across all carriers there are 84 plans available in the county.

What is new or not returning in UnitedHealthcare's Dallas lineup for 2027?

Three UnitedHealthcare plans are new in Dallas County for 2027, and six of its 2026 plans are not being offered again. One plan is returning under a new name.

The three new plans are all Dual Eligible SNPs:

The renamed plan is AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC TX-61 (Regional PPO), which was called UHC Medicare Advantage TX-0030 (Regional PPO) in 2026. Six plans offered in 2026 are not returning for 2027. If you are currently enrolled in a plan that is leaving, UnitedHealthcare must notify you by the end of September and your ANOC will explain your options. You can switch to another plan during Annual Enrollment, and in some cases a Special Enrollment Period applies.

What plan types does UnitedHealthcare offer in Dallas for 2027, and what do they mean?

UnitedHealthcare's 2027 Dallas lineup includes HMO-POS plans, PPO plans (including Regional PPOs), and Special Needs Plans. The plan type affects how you use the plan's provider network.

Every one of UnitedHealthcare's 15 Dallas plans for 2027 includes Part D drug coverage, so prescription coverage is built in rather than purchased separately.

How do I check a UnitedHealthcare plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?

Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov to check whether your doctors are in a plan's network and whether your drugs are on its formulary. This is the step most worth doing before December 7, 2026.

Here is a simple way to work through it:

1. Make two lists. Write down every prescription (name, dose, how often) and every doctor, hospital and pharmacy you want to keep using. 2. Read your ANOC. If you already have a UnitedHealthcare plan, your Annual Notice of Change arrived by late September. It compares your 2026 plan with the 2027 version. 3. Run Plan Finder. At medicare.gov/plan-compare, enter your ZIP code and your drug list. The tool will show each plan's estimated yearly drug cost, premium, and whether each prescription is covered. 4. Verify the network. Click into any plan you are considering and check the provider directory, or call the plan directly. Networks can change between plan years. 5. Call if you want help. 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048) is available 24/7.

If you do nothing, your current plan simply renews for 2027 — as long as it is still offered — with the changes described in your ANOC.

What are the key 2027 dates and figures to know?

The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026. A plan change made in that window takes effect January 1, 2027. If you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan and change your mind, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs January 1 through March 31, 2027, and lets you switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare one time.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if my current UnitedHealthcare plan is one of the six not returning in 2027?
UnitedHealthcare is required to send you a non-renewal notice by the end of September 2026. You can pick any other Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare (and add a stand-alone Part D plan) during Annual Enrollment, October 15 through December 7, 2026. People whose plan is leaving also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that extends into early 2027.
Do I have to do anything if I like my current plan?
No. If your plan is being offered again in 2027, it will renew automatically on January 1, 2027. Read the Annual Notice of Change you received in late September so you understand any changes to premiums, cost shares, drug coverage or networks for next year.
Can I enroll in a UnitedHealthcare Special Needs Plan?
Only if you qualify. D-SNPs require that you have both Medicare and Medicaid; C-SNPs require a qualifying chronic condition verified by your doctor; I-SNPs are for people who need or receive long-term care in a facility. Medicare.gov and 1-800-MEDICARE can help you confirm eligibility.
Where can I compare UnitedHealthcare's plans against other carriers in Dallas?
The Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov is the official tool. It shows every Medicare Advantage plan available in your ZIP code — all 84 plans in Dallas County for 2027, across 12 carriers — and lets you filter by plan type, drug coverage and your own prescriptions and providers. --- For personalized answers about your Medicare coverage, visit **medicare.gov**, call **1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227, TTY 1-877-486-2048)** 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or review your plan's Evidence of Coverage and provider directory directly.
