This article is a plain-English guide to Humana's 2027 slate in El Paso County — how many plans, what kinds, which Special Needs Plans are in the mix, and what is new, renamed or not coming back. MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site; we are not Humana, and other carriers also serve the county. The table on this page lists every Humana plan by name.

How many Humana Medicare Advantage plans are offered in El Paso County for 2027?

Humana is offering 23 Medicare Advantage plans in El Paso County for 2027. By type, that breaks down to 9 HMO plans, 13 PPO plans and 1 PFFS plan, and 19 of the 23 include Part D prescription drug coverage.

El Paso is in El Paso County, and Medicare plan availability is set at the county level, so the same lineup applies whether you live in central El Paso, the East Side, the West Side or the Mission Valley. Humana is one of 12 carriers offering Medicare Advantage in the county for 2027; across all carriers, there are 89 Medicare Advantage plans available in El Paso County next year.

What is new, renamed or not returning in Humana's 2027 El Paso lineup?

For 2027 in El Paso County, Humana has 2 new plans, 3 plans that are not returning, and 1 plan that has been renamed. The renamed plan is Humana Essentials Plus Giveback (PPO), which was called HumanaChoice Giveback H7617-041 (PPO) in 2026.

If a plan you currently have is not returning, Humana must send you a non-renewal notice and you get a Special Enrollment Period to choose a new plan. If your plan is renewing, the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) — mailed or posted in your Humana account by late September — spells out what is changing for 2027, including costs, drug list and provider network. Read it before you decide to stay or switch.

Which Humana Special Needs Plans are available in El Paso County for 2027?

Humana is offering 6 Special Needs Plans (SNPs) in El Paso County for 2027: 3 Dual Eligible SNPs (D-SNPs), 3 Chronic Condition SNPs (C-SNPs) for people with diabetes and heart conditions, and 2 Institutional SNPs (I-SNPs).

SNPs are Medicare Advantage plans built for a specific group. The D-SNPs in the lineup — Humana Gold Plus SNP-DE H0028-036, H4461-069 and H4461-070 — are for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. The three C-SNPs are each named Humana Gold Plus - Diabetes and Heart (HMO C-SNP) and serve people living with those conditions. The two I-SNPs are both Humana Together in Health (PPO I-SNP), designed for people who live in a long-term care setting or need that level of care at home. To join a SNP, you must meet the eligibility rules; Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE can confirm whether you qualify.

How do I check a Humana plan against my doctors and prescriptions before December 7?

The surest way is the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter your ZIP code and your prescriptions, and the tool shows the Humana plans available in El Paso County along with their drug costs, provider networks and star ratings — the pieces we are not allowed to compare for you here.

A short checklist before December 7, 2026:

What is changing in Medicare itself for 2027?

Two Part D numbers that affect every drug plan — including the ones built into Medicare Advantage — are already set for 2027. The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027, up from $2,100 in 2026. The Part D maximum deductible a plan can charge rises to $700 in 2027, up from $615 in 2026. The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33; that is a formula input CMS uses, not what any plan actually charges.

The 2027 standard Part B premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS usually publishes those figures later in the fall, typically in November. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan — the option to spread your drug costs across the calendar year in monthly bills — continues to be available if you want it.

What happens if I do nothing by December 7?

Nothing dramatic. If your current Humana plan is still being offered in El Paso County for 2027, it will renew automatically on January 1, 2027, with the changes described in your ANOC. If your plan is one of the 3 Humana plans not returning, you will get a non-renewal letter and a Special Enrollment Period to pick something else.

You also have a second window: the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, January 1 – March 31, 2027. During those months, if you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare (and add a Part D plan). You cannot use that window to move from Original Medicare into a Medicare Advantage plan for the first time.

Frequently asked questions

Does Humana offer the same Medicare Advantage plans everywhere in Texas?
No. Medicare Advantage availability is set county by county, so the 23 Humana plans listed for El Paso County in 2027 are the ones you can choose if you live in El Paso. A different county in Texas will have its own list, which you can see on medicare.gov by entering your ZIP code.
What is the difference between an HMO, a PPO and a PFFS plan?
In general terms, an HMO asks you to use the plan's network and often to pick a primary care doctor and get referrals. A PPO lets you see out-of-network providers, usually at a higher cost. A PFFS (Private Fee-for-Service) plan sets its own payment terms, and any Medicare provider can choose whether to accept them. The Medicare & You handbook on medicare.gov explains the rules for each in more detail.
I only have Medicare right now — can I join one of these Humana plans during Open Enrollment?
Yes. The Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 – December 7, 2026, is the main window to join a Medicare Advantage plan for 2027 if you already have Medicare Parts A and B. Coverage begins January 1, 2027. To compare the Humana plans against other carriers' plans in El Paso County, use the Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE.
How do I find out if my plan is one of the three Humana plans not returning in 2027?
Humana is required to mail a non-renewal notice to members whose plan is ending. You should receive it by early October 2026. If you are not sure, call the member services number on the back of your Humana card, or check your account on Humana.com. Medicare.gov will also show whether your plan ID is available for 2027 when you enter your information.
