What HealthSpring is offering in El Paso County for 2027
El Paso is in El Paso County, which is the geography CMS uses to set plan availability. For 2027, HealthSpring's lineup there includes:
- 6 HMO plans and 1 PPO plan
- 2 Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs); no C-SNPs or I-SNPs
- All 7 plans include Part D drug coverage
The table below lists every HealthSpring plan available in the county, spelled as CMS lists them. CMS files these plans under HealthSpring's parent organization, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), but they are sold under the HealthSpring name.
What is new, what is renamed, what is not returning
Three things are worth knowing before you compare:
- New for 2027: HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP). This is a Special Needs Plan for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid.
- Renamed for 2027: HealthSpring Preferred Extra Savings (HMO) — previously sold as HealthSpring Preferred Full Savings (HMO). A rename does not automatically mean the plan is the same inside; the ANOC will show what changed.
- Not returning: None. All of HealthSpring's 2026 plans in the county continue into 2027.
For the specifics on any one plan — the monthly premium, deductible, copays, pharmacy network, provider network and drug list — go to the plan's own Evidence of Coverage or look it up on the Medicare Plan Finder. We do not publish plan-level costs or benefits here.
Special Needs Plans and drug coverage, briefly
A Special Needs Plan (SNP) is a type of Medicare Advantage plan built for people in a specific situation. A D-SNP is for people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. HealthSpring will offer two D-SNPs in El Paso County for 2027 — the existing HealthSpring TotalCare and the new HealthSpring TotalCare Plus. If you do not have Medicaid, you would not be eligible for either.
All seven HealthSpring plans in the county include Part D prescription drug coverage. A few Part D rules changed at the federal level for 2027:
- The Part D out-of-pocket cap rises to $2,400 in 2027 (it is $2,100 in 2026).
- The Part D maximum deductible rises to $700 in 2027 (it is $615 in 2026).
- The Part D national base beneficiary premium for 2027 is $41.33 — that is a formula input CMS uses, not what any particular plan will charge.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan remains available, letting you spread drug costs across the year in monthly installments instead of paying at the pharmacy counter.
CMS has not yet announced the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, or the 2027 IRMAA income brackets; those usually come out in the fall.
How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions before Dec. 7
This is the single most useful hour you can spend during AEP. Here is a straightforward way to do it:
1. Pull your ANOC. If you are already in a HealthSpring plan, the Annual Notice of Change arrived (or is arriving) in September. It compares your 2026 plan to its 2027 version — premium, copays, drug tiers, extra benefits. 2. List your prescriptions. Write down the name, dose and how often you take each one. Include the pharmacy you use. 3. List your doctors and hospitals. Primary care, specialists, preferred hospital, and any upcoming procedures. 4. Use the Medicare Plan Finder. Go to medicare.gov/plan-compare, enter your ZIP code and your drug list. You will see each plan's drug cost estimate, provider directory link and star rating. You can compare any plans you are considering side by side. 5. Confirm the network. Call the provider's office and ask whether they will be in-network with the specific plan for 2027 — networks can change on Jan. 1. 6. Call if you want help. 1-800-MEDICARE is open 24/7 and can look up plans with you.
If you do nothing by Dec. 7, your current plan simply renews on Jan. 1, 2027, with the changes in its ANOC. You still have a second window — Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment, Jan. 1 – March 31, 2027 — to make one change if your renewed plan is not working out.
