Medicare in Nevada for 2027: 21 Advantage Plans Leaving, 14 New, and What Else Changes

CARSON CITY — Nevadans with Medicare will see a smaller Medicare Advantage menu for 2027, a slightly leaner slate of stand-alone drug plans, and a new, lower cap on what any Part D plan can make a member pay out of pocket for covered drugs. The Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 coverage runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and choices made in that window take effect January 1, 2027.

How many Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Nevada for 2027?

Nevada will have 98 Medicare Advantage plans available in 2027, compared with 105 in 2026. Of the 2026 lineup, 21 plans are not returning anywhere in the state, 14 are new, and 26 are changing in at least one way — a different premium, drug deductible, plan type or plan name — across 14 counties. Molina Healthcare of Nevada will not offer a Medicare Advantage plan in the state for 2027.

Those counts are statewide. Medicare Advantage is sold county by county, so what shows up on your doorstep in Las Vegas, Reno or Pahrump depends on your ZIP code. The Medicare Plan Finder at Medicare.gov is the authoritative place to see what is actually offered where you live.

What should I do if my Medicare Advantage plan is leaving Nevada in 2027?

If your plan is not returning in 2027, your insurer must send a non-renewal letter, and you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that runs through February 2027 to choose a new Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare (and, if you want drug coverage, add a stand-alone Part D plan).

Even if your plan is returning, read the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) that arrives in late September. That document spells out what is different for 2027 compared with 2026 — the plan name, the plan type, the drug deductible, the premium, and other terms. If something you rely on is changing, Annual Enrollment (October 15 – December 7, 2026) is the time to compare and switch.

Which Nevada counties are seeing the most Medicare Advantage change for 2027?

Clark County leads the state with 11 plans leaving and 18 changing. Washoe County has 12 leaving and 12 changing. Nye County has 8 leaving and 12 changing, Carson City has 7 leaving and 6 changing, and Storey County has 6 leaving and 5 changing.

"Leaving" means the plan will not be offered in that county in 2027. "Changing" means the plan is still being offered, but at least one of its basic terms — premium, drug deductible, plan type or plan name — is different. Both are reasons to open the ANOC envelope rather than assume next year will look like this year.

How many stand-alone Part D drug plans are available in Nevada for 2027?

Nevada will have 9 stand-alone Part D prescription drug plans in 2027, down from 10 in 2026, offered by 5 insurers. These are the plans people use alongside Original Medicare (and some Medicare Advantage plans that do not include drug coverage).

Two national Part D rules apply to every one of them in 2027: the maximum deductible a Part D plan may charge is $700, and the out-of-pocket cap on covered drugs is $2,400 (down from $2,100 in 2026). Once a member's out-of-pocket spending on covered drugs reaches $2,400, the plan pays 100 percent of covered drug costs for the rest of the calendar year.

How many Medigap insurers are listed for Nevada on Medicare.gov?

Medicare.gov lists 19 Medigap (Medicare Supplement) insurers for a ZIP code in Nevada. Medigap works only with Original Medicare, not Medicare Advantage, and the lettered plans (Plan G, Plan N and the others) are standardized — the benefits inside a given letter are the same from company to company, though prices and customer service differ.

Nevada residents who want to switch Medigap policies outside of their initial six-month Medigap open enrollment window may be subject to medical underwriting. The rules, and who can qualify for guaranteed-issue rights, are explained at Medicare.gov.

What are the 2027 national Medicare numbers Nevadans should know?

Four national figures are confirmed for 2027: the Part D out-of-pocket cap is $2,400, the maximum Part D deductible is $700, the Part D base beneficiary premium (used to calculate the late-enrollment penalty) is $41.33, and the Social Security Administration announced on October 14, 2026 a 3.6 percent cost-of-living adjustment for benefits payable beginning January 2027.

Two things have not been announced yet: the 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets and surcharges. CMS typically publishes those in the fall, and they will be posted on Medicare.gov when they are released.

What should Nevadans do before December 7, 2026?

Prescription coverage

How Medicare Part D works in 2026

The old coverage gap (“donut hole”) is eliminated as of 2025 (three phases now). There’s now a hard yearly cap of $2,100 on what you pay out of pocket for covered drugs, and you can spread those costs across the year with the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan.

Phase 1
Deductible
You pay full price for covered drugs until you meet your plan's deductible (no more than $615 in 2026).
Phase 2
Initial coverage
You and your plan share costs through copays or coinsurance.
Phase 3
Catastrophic coverage
Once your out-of-pocket drug spending hits $2,100, you pay nothing more for covered drugs for the rest of the year.
