HealthSpring's 2027 Medicare Advantage plans in Phoenix: how to match them to your doctors

PHOENIX — Fall 2026. If you have a HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plan in the Phoenix area, your 2027 lineup looks a little different than it did this year. One plan is not coming back, two have new names, and the rest are returning for the plan year that begins January 1, 2027. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, which is your window to compare what HealthSpring offers against what you actually use — your doctors, your pharmacy and your prescriptions.

MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer site. We are not HealthSpring, and HealthSpring is not the only carrier here: in Maricopa County, the county Phoenix sits in, 15 other carriers also offer Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, for a combined total of 92 plans.

What HealthSpring is offering in Phoenix for 2027

For plan year 2027, HealthSpring (listed by CMS under its parent organization, Health Care Service Corporation) has 5 Medicare Advantage plans available in Maricopa County:

The table below lists every HealthSpring plan available in Maricopa County for 2027 by name and type. We are not going to attach premiums, copays, benefits, networks or star ratings to any of them in this article — those details change by plan and by person, and the right place to look them up is the Medicare Plan Finder.

What is new, renamed, or gone

Three things to know about year-over-year changes:

The returning HealthSpring plans for 2027 are HealthSpring Achieve (HMO C-SNP), HealthSpring Preferred (HMO), HealthSpring Preferred Extra Savings (HMO), HealthSpring Preferred Savings (HMO) and HealthSpring True Choice (PPO).

Special Needs Plans and drug coverage

HealthSpring's one Special Needs Plan in Phoenix for 2027 is a C-SNP — a Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan — designed for people living with a specific qualifying chronic condition. C-SNPs have eligibility rules you have to meet, and the condition(s) they cover are set by the plan. If you think a C-SNP might fit you, confirm the qualifying condition on the plan's own materials or with 1-800-MEDICARE.

All 5 of HealthSpring's 2027 Phoenix-area plans include Part D drug coverage, so you would not pair them with a stand-alone Part D plan.

How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions before December 7

Before you choose or stay, do these four checks for any plan you are considering:

1. Your doctors. Use the plan's provider directory, or call the office and ask whether they will be in-network for that specific plan in 2027. "In-network with HealthSpring" is not enough — plans have different networks. 2. Your pharmacy. Confirm it is a preferred or standard network pharmacy on the plan for 2027. 3. Your prescriptions. Put every drug, dose and quantity into the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov/plan-compare. It will show the plan's formulary tier and your projected yearly drug cost. 4. Your Annual Notice of Change. If you are already enrolled, read the ANOC HealthSpring mailed you in late September. It spells out what changes for your plan on January 1, 2027.

If you do nothing by December 7, 2026, and your current plan is being offered again next year, you stay in it with the changes in the ANOC. If your plan is one of the ones not returning, you can pick a new Medicare Advantage plan during Annual Enrollment, or you can go back to Original Medicare and add a stand-alone Part D plan.

The 2027 numbers CMS has confirmed (and the ones it has not)

A few program-level figures for 2027 are set:

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets and surcharges, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes them later in the fall, usually in November. Please do not plan around estimates — wait for the official number.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to do anything if I like my HealthSpring plan?
No. If your plan is being offered again in 2027, your enrollment renews automatically on January 1, 2027, with the changes described in your Annual Notice of Change. It is still worth comparing, because formularies, networks and costs can shift year to year.
My HealthSpring plan is not returning in 2027. What happens?
HealthSpring is required to send you a non-renewal notice. You can pick another Medicare Advantage plan — from HealthSpring or any other carrier offering plans in Maricopa County — during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 – December 7, 2026. You also have a Special Enrollment Period that lets you make a change if your plan leaves.
My plan has a new name. Is it the same plan?
Not necessarily. A rename can come with changes to benefits, drug coverage, provider network or costs. Read the Annual Notice of Change, and run the plan through the Medicare Plan Finder with your actual drugs and doctors before assuming it still fits.
Are HealthSpring's plans the only Medicare Advantage choices in Phoenix?
No. In Maricopa County for 2027, 15 other carriers also offer Medicare Advantage plans — 92 plans in total across all carriers. HealthSpring is one option among many. ## Where to get personalized answers **Medicare Plan Finder:** medicare.gov/plan-compare — the official tool to compare plans with your drugs, pharmacy and doctors. **Medicare:** 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; TTY 1-877-486-2048. **The plan itself:** HealthSpring's member services line, Evidence of Coverage and provider and pharmacy directories are the authoritative source for benefits, networks and formularies.
