Key takeaways
- 11 Medicare Advantage plans offered in Clark County in 2026 will not be offered in 2027; if you are enrolled in one, your insurer must send you a non-renewal letter.
- If you do nothing, your coverage ends Dec. 31, 2026, and you are automatically moved to Original Medicare (Parts A and B) on Jan. 1, 2027 — with no drug coverage unless you add it.
- Losing your plan triggers a Special Enrollment Period that runs through Feb. 28, 2027, so you can join another Medicare Advantage plan or a stand-alone Part D plan after Dec. 7.
- You also get a guaranteed-issue right to buy certain Medigap policies; the rules on which policies and for how long are set in Nevada, so confirm them with the Nevada Division of Insurance before you shop.

HENDERSON, Nev. — Eleven Medicare Advantage plans sold in the Henderson area this year are not coming back in 2027, and members of those plans should be watching the mail right now for a non-renewal letter from their insurer. If you get one, you have real choices — and more time than the regular Dec. 7 deadline to make them.
Henderson is in Clark County, where CMS's 2027 plan file shows 72 Medicare Advantage plans from 10 carriers, down from 74 plans and 12 carriers in 2026. The full lineup is in the table below. This article is about the 11 plans that are leaving, who to call, and what happens on Jan. 1 if you do nothing.
Which Medicare Advantage plans are not returning to the Henderson area in 2027?
Eleven Medicare Advantage plans available in Clark County in 2026 are not in CMS's 2027 file for the county. In alphabetical order by carrier, they are:
- Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO) — Aetna (CVS Health)
- Wellcare Simple (HMO-POS) — Centene (WellCare)
- Wellcare Specialty Simple (HMO-POS C-SNP) — Centene (WellCare)
- Champion Select (HMO-POS C-SNP) — Champion Health Plan
- Senior Care Plus Complete Plan (HMO) — Kaiser Permanente
- Senior Care Plus Enriched Duals Plan (HMO D-SNP) — Kaiser Permanente
- Molina Medicare Complete Care (HMO D-SNP) — Molina Healthcare of Nevada
- SCAN MyChoice (HMO) — SCAN Health Plan
- Select Health Medicare Dual (HMO D-SNP) — Select Health
- AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC NV-0002 (HMO-POS) — UnitedHealthcare
- UHC Complete Care Support NV-11 (HMO-POS C-SNP) — UnitedHealthcare
If your plan is not on this list, your coverage simply renews for 2027, with any changes spelled out in the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan mailed in September.
How can I tell if my Medicare Advantage plan is leaving in Henderson?
If your plan is not returning, your insurer is required to mail you a non-renewal letter — most are sent in early October. The letter will say your plan will not be offered in 2027 and that your coverage ends Dec. 31, 2026.
Look for an envelope from your current plan, not Medicare. The letter will usually suggest another plan from the same carrier and include a phone number. You do not have to take that suggestion — you can shop every plan in the county on the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov.
If you are not sure whether a letter you received is the non-renewal notice, call the member services number on the back of your plan ID card and ask directly: "Is my plan being offered in Clark County in 2027?"
What happens on Jan. 1, 2027 if I do nothing?
If you do nothing, you will be automatically moved to Original Medicare — Part A (hospital) and Part B (medical) — on Jan. 1, 2027. You will still be covered for doctor visits and hospital stays under the standard Medicare rules.
Two things to understand about that default:
- Original Medicare does not include prescription drug coverage. If your Medicare Advantage plan included drugs (and almost all of the plans on the list above did), you will have no Part D coverage unless you join a stand-alone Part D plan.
- Original Medicare does not cap your out-of-pocket costs the way a Medicare Advantage plan does. Many people pair it with a Medigap (Medicare Supplement) policy to help with the 20% coinsurance Part B leaves behind.
So "doing nothing" is a real option, but it is rarely a complete one. Most people in this situation make an active choice.
What is the Special Enrollment Period for a non-renewed plan?
When your Medicare Advantage plan is non-renewed, Medicare gives you a Special Enrollment Period that runs from Dec. 8, 2026 through Feb. 28, 2027. During that window you can:
- Join a different Medicare Advantage plan (with or without drug coverage) offered in Clark County for 2027, or
- Stay on Original Medicare and join a stand-alone Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
You can still use the regular Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026) too — most people in a non-renewing plan pick a new one before Dec. 7 so coverage starts cleanly on Jan. 1. The Special Enrollment Period is a safety net if you miss that date or change your mind in January or February.
Separately, losing your Medicare Advantage plan this way triggers a Medigap guaranteed-issue right at the federal level. That means certain Medigap policies must sell to you without medical underwriting, within a limited window. The exact list of policies you qualify for and how long you have in Nevada is set by state rules — the Nevada Division of Insurance can confirm what applies to you before you call insurers.
What choices do I have for 2027 coverage?
You have three practical paths:
1. Choose another Medicare Advantage plan offered in Clark County for 2027. The county's 2027 lineup is 72 plans from 10 carriers. Compare them on medicare.gov using your doctors, pharmacies and prescriptions. 2. Choose Original Medicare plus a stand-alone Part D drug plan. This leaves you free to see any provider nationwide who accepts Medicare. 3. Choose Original Medicare plus a Part D plan and a Medigap policy. This is the fullest version of option 2 and uses the guaranteed-issue right described above.
A few program-level numbers to keep in mind as you compare drug coverage: for 2027, CMS has set the Part D out-of-pocket cap at $2,400 (up from $2,100 in 2026) and the Part D maximum deductible at $700 (up from $615 in 2026). The 2027 Part B standard premium and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets had not been announced as of September 2026; CMS typically publishes them in November.
