Key takeaways

  • Three carriers — CHRISTUS Health Advantage, Molina Healthcare of Arizona, and SCAN Health Plan — are not offering Medicare Advantage plans in Bernalillo County for 2027, while Molina Healthcare of New Mexico is new to the county.
  • 24 plans available in 2026 will not return for 2027, and 9 new plans are joining the lineup; the table below lists every plan by carrier and type.
  • If your current plan is not returning, you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that runs into early 2027 so you can pick a new plan without being stuck.
  • Doing nothing is a choice too: if your plan is offered again next year, it renews automatically with the changes in your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC).

ALBUQUERQUE — Fall 2026. The 2027 Medicare Advantage picture in Bernalillo County looks different from this year's. Three carriers that sold plans in Albuquerque for 2026 are not coming back for 2027, one carrier is new, and nine plans are joining the lineup. The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7, 2026, and any change you make in that window takes effect January 1, 2027.

Here is a plain-English walk through who is in, who is out, and what that means if you live in or near Albuquerque.

What's changing in Bernalillo County for 2027

Medicare Advantage availability is set by CMS at the county level, and Albuquerque sits in Bernalillo County. For 2026 there are 51 Medicare Advantage plans from 8 carriers in the county, split across HMO, HMO-POS and PPO designs, including 17 Special Needs Plans.

For 2027, the biggest shifts are:

The table below lists every plan available in Bernalillo County for 2027.

Plans leaving after 2026

If one of these is your plan, you will get a non-renewal notice from your carrier and will need to make another choice:

If your plan is on this list, you are entitled to a Special Enrollment Period that lets you switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or go back to Original Medicare with a Part D plan. For non-renewed MA plans, that SEP typically runs from December 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027.

Plans new for 2027

Nine plans are joining the Albuquerque lineup for 2027:

Renamed, but still here

Nine plans will show up under a new name for 2027. If you don't recognize your plan on next year's paperwork, it may just be rebranded. Examples: Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Basic (HMO-POS) was previously the HMO version; DEVOTED C-SNP ENHANCED 003 NM (HMO C-SNP) was DEVOTED C-SNP 003 NM; several Humana plans have dropped the contract numbers from their names (Humana Essentials Plus Giveback, Humana Full Access, Humana Total Complete, Humana Value Choice); AARP Medicare Advantage Essentials from UHC NM-4 (PPO) was AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC NM-0004; and two UnitedHealthcare dual plans are being renamed to UHC Dual Advantage NM-V1 and UHC Dual Complete NM-Q1.

A rename alone does not mean the benefits are identical. Read the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) your plan sent in September to see what else moved.

How to decide this fall

A few steps that help most Albuquerque readers:

1. Open the ANOC. Your current carrier mailed it by September 30. It compares your 2026 plan to the 2027 version — premium, deductible, drug tiers, provider network, extra benefits. 2. Check that your doctors and your pharmacy are still in network for 2027. Networks can change year to year even when the plan name doesn't. 3. Price your drugs on the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. Enter the exact medications and doses — that is the only way to compare drug costs honestly across plans. 4. Know the 2027 Part D rules. CMS has confirmed the Part D out-of-pocket cap will be $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026), the maximum Part D deductible will be $700 (up from $615), and the national base beneficiary premium will be $41.33. The 2027 Part B premium and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets have not been announced yet; CMS typically releases them in November. 5. Don't rush the deadline. December 7, 2026 is firm, but you have the full window to compare.

By the numbers

Medicare Part B premium, 2006–2026

The standard monthly Part B premium has climbed from $88.50 in 2006 to $202.90 in 2026. Hover any point for that year’s premium.
