MyMedicarePlans.org is an independent consumer news site. We are not Humana, and we are not Medicare. Humana is one of eight carriers offering Medicare Advantage plans in Webb County next year; together those carriers list 53 plans. This article walks through Humana's slate only, and shows you how to check any plan against your own doctors and prescriptions before the deadline.
How many Humana Medicare Advantage plans are offered in Laredo for 2027?
Laredo sits in Webb County, where Humana will offer 11 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. All 11 are PPO plans — Humana is not offering an HMO or PFFS plan here next year. Of those 11, two are Institutional Special Needs Plans (I-SNPs), designed for people who live in a long-term care facility or need that level of care at home. Eight of the 11 plans include Part D prescription drug coverage; three do not.
The table below lists every Humana plan available in the county for 2027, by plan type and whether it includes drug coverage. Humana is one of 8 carriers selling Medicare Advantage in Webb County next year, and the full market across all carriers is 53 plans.
What is new, renamed or not returning from Humana in Webb County for 2027?
For 2027, Humana has 1 new plan in Webb County, 2 plans not returning, and 1 renamed plan. The renamed plan is Humana Essentials Plus Giveback (PPO), which was previously sold as HumanaChoice Giveback H7617-041 (PPO). A rename does not automatically mean the benefits are identical — it just means the plan is being sold under a different name for 2027.
The new plan for next year is a second Humana Together in Health (PPO I-SNP) offering. Because I-SNPs are limited to people who meet an institutional level-of-care requirement, they are not open to every Medicare member.
If one of your current Humana plans is among the two not returning, Humana must send you a non-renewal notice. That notice triggers a Special Enrollment Period so you can pick another plan without waiting for the next Annual Enrollment Period.
What happens if I do nothing before December 7, 2026?
If your Humana plan is being offered again in 2027 and you take no action, you stay in it. Your coverage simply rolls into the new plan year on January 1, 2027, under whatever terms your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) describes. The ANOC is the booklet Humana mails each fall; it lists any premium, deductible, copay, drug list, network or benefit changes for the coming year.
Doing nothing is a valid choice — but only if you have read the ANOC. Plans can change their pharmacy networks, tier a drug differently, or adjust in-network providers from one year to the next, and those are the details that affect your wallet in January.
How do I check a Humana plan against my doctors and prescriptions?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. It is the only tool that pulls together each plan's 2027 drug list, pharmacy network and estimated yearly cost based on the prescriptions you enter.
A clean way to work through it:
1. Go to medicare.gov/plan-compare and enter your ZIP code (Laredo ZIPs sit in Webb County). 2. Add every prescription you take, with the dose and how often you fill it, and pick the pharmacies you actually use. 3. Filter for Medicare Advantage plans and look at Humana's 2027 options alongside the others in the county. 4. For each plan you are considering, open the plan details and check whether your doctors and preferred hospital show up as in-network. Then call the doctor's office to confirm — directories can lag. 5. If you take costly medications, look at the plan's drug tier for each one, not just the premium.
You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and have a representative walk through it with you.
What 2027 Medicare figures are already set, and which are not?
A few 2027 numbers from CMS are confirmed and apply no matter which plan you choose:
- Part D out-of-pocket cap: $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). Once your out-of-pocket spending on covered drugs hits that cap, you pay $0 for the rest of the calendar year.
- Part D maximum deductible: $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). Plans can set a lower deductible, but not higher.
- Part D national base beneficiary premium: $41.33 for 2027. This is a formula input CMS uses, not what any specific plan charges.
- The coverage gap (the old "donut hole") remains eliminated — Part D has three phases now.
- The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan is still available, letting you spread your drug costs across the calendar year in level monthly bills instead of paying at the pharmacy counter.
The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those in the fall, usually in November. Be wary of anyone quoting a firm 2027 Part B number before CMS does.
