Key takeaways

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC) is not offering Medicare Advantage plans in Travis County for 2027; Provider Partners Health Plans is new to the county.
  • 15 Medicare Advantage plans are leaving after 2026 and 11 are new for 2027; the table below lists every plan.
  • If your plan is not renewing, you get a Special Enrollment Period from Dec. 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027 to pick a new one.
  • The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026, and any change you make takes effect Jan. 1, 2027.

AUSTIN — As the Annual Enrollment Period opens Oct. 15, 2026, the Medicare Advantage menu in Travis County is shifting more than it has in several years. One familiar carrier is leaving the county for 2027, a new one is arriving, and nearly a quarter of the plans on this year's shelf will not be back.

Austin sits in Travis County, where Medicare plan availability is set. For plan year 2026, eight carriers offer 60 Medicare Advantage plans here. For 2027, the roster will look different: 15 plans are leaving, 11 are new, 8 have been renamed, and 37 are continuing. Thirteen more carry a change the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) will spell out.

Here is what's actually changing, by carrier, and what to do if your plan is one of the ones not coming back.

The carrier lineup for 2027

Eight carriers offer Medicare Advantage in Travis County in 2026: Aetna (CVS Health), Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC), Centene (WellCare), Devoted Health, Elevance Health (Anthem), Humana, Texas Independence Health Plan, and UnitedHealthcare.

Two carrier-level changes stand out for 2027:

The remaining seven carriers all stay, though several are reshaping what they offer.

What's leaving after 2026

Fifteen plans will not be offered in Travis County in 2027. In alphabetical order by carrier, they are:

Most of these are Special Needs Plans (SNPs) — plans built for people with Medicaid as well as Medicare, or for a specific chronic condition. If you are in one of them, the next section matters.

What's new for 2027

Eleven plans are new to the Travis County roster for 2027:

Here, too, the picture is heavily tilted to Special Needs Plans. Shoppers who are not dual-eligible and do not have a qualifying chronic condition will likely be choosing among the general plans that are continuing from this year.

Renamed, not gone

Eight plans are the same plan with a new name. If one of these is yours, your ANOC will note the name change along with any other updates:

An additional 13 plans are continuing but changing in some way the ANOC will flag — a premium, deductible, plan type or name adjustment. Read it carefully when it lands in your mailbox.

If your plan is not coming back

If your current Medicare Advantage plan is on the "leaving" list, your carrier is required to mail you a non-renewal notice. You have options:

For everyone else, nothing automatic happens: if your plan is being offered again next year, it renews on Jan. 1, 2027 with whatever changes the ANOC describes.

The 2027 numbers worth knowing

A few program-level figures CMS has already confirmed for 2027:

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those in November. The coverage gap ("donut hole") has been gone since 2025; Part D now has three phases, and the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lets you spread drug costs across the year in monthly installments.

By the numbers

Medicare Part B premium, 2006–2026

The standard monthly Part B premium has climbed from $88.50 in 2006 to $202.90 in 2026. Hover any point for that year’s premium.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

I'm in a Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plan in Austin. What happens on Jan. 1?
Blue Cross Blue Shield (HCSC) is not offering Medicare Advantage in Travis County in 2027, so your plan will not renew. You should receive a non-renewal letter from the carrier. You can pick a new Medicare Advantage plan during the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7, 2026), or use your Special Enrollment Period (Dec. 8, 2026 through Feb. 28, 2027) to choose a new Medicare Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D drug plan.
My plan has a new name on my paperwork. Is it really the same plan?
Possibly. Eight plans in the county are keeping their contracts but changing names for 2027. Your Annual Notice of Change will tell you whether anything else — premium, deductible, network, drug list — changed too. Read it before you decide to stay or switch.
Do I need to do anything if I like my current plan?
If your plan is being offered again in 2027, it renews automatically on Jan. 1. You do not need to re-enroll. Just read your ANOC so you know what, if anything, is different next year.
How do I compare the actual plans available to me?
Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov, which lets you enter your ZIP code, your prescriptions and your preferred pharmacies to see every plan available in Travis County with its specific costs and coverage. You can also call 1‑800‑MEDICARE (TTY 1‑877‑486‑2048), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ## Where to go next The table on this page lists every 2027 Medicare Advantage plan offered in Travis County, by carrier and plan type. For personalized comparisons — including premiums, drug costs, provider networks and star ratings — go to medicare.gov or call 1‑800‑MEDICARE. Your Annual Notice of Change, which arrives by late September, is the single most important document for understanding how your own plan is changing for 2027.
