INDIANAPOLIS — As the Annual Enrollment Period for 2027 Medicare coverage opens Oct. 15, 2026, the Medicare Advantage lineup serving Indianapolis is shifting again. In Marion County, where Indianapolis sits, 14 plans will not return next year, 15 new plans are joining the market, and more than four dozen plans continue — some with changes buried in their Annual Notice of Change.

If you have a Medicare Advantage plan now, that notice from your insurer is the single most important piece of mail you will get this fall. It explains what is changing — or whether your plan is going away entirely.

What the Indianapolis-area lineup looks like for 2027

Medicare Advantage availability is set at the county level. Indianapolis is in Marion County, where 11 carriers are offering a combined 78 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. By plan type, that breaks down to 21 HMOs, 13 HMO-POS plans, 43 PPOs and 1 PFFS plan. Twenty-nine of the 78 are Special Needs Plans (SNPs) — plans built for people with specific chronic conditions, people who also qualify for Medicaid, or people living in a nursing facility. All 78 include prescription drug coverage.

The carriers active in the county for 2027 are Aetna (CVS Health), American Health Advantage of Indiana, Centene (WellCare), Communicare Advantage, Devoted Health, Elevance Health (Anthem), Humana, MyTruAdvantage, Provider Partners Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare and Zing Health. The table below lists every plan by carrier.

The 15 plans new for 2027

Fifteen Medicare Advantage plans are being offered in Marion County for the first time next year. In alphabetical order by carrier, they are:

A new plan is not automatically a better fit than one you already have. Compare the plan documents and the Medicare Plan Finder on medicare.gov for the specifics.

The 14 plans not returning after 2026

Fourteen plans currently sold in Marion County will not be offered in 2027. If you are enrolled in one of these, your insurer must send you a non-renewal notice:

If your plan is on this list, you have a Special Enrollment Period that lets you choose another Medicare Advantage plan or move back to Original Medicare (and add a stand-alone Part D plan) without waiting for a future enrollment window. That SEP generally runs from Dec. 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027. If you do nothing, you will lose Medicare Advantage coverage on Jan. 1, 2027 and return to Original Medicare — without a Part D drug plan unless you sign up for one.

Renames and quieter changes

Seven plans are keeping essentially the same identity but under a new name — including, for example, UHC Dual Complete IN-Q1 (PPO D-SNP), which was UHC Dual Complete IN-D001 (PPO D-SNP), and Humana Full Access (PPO), which was Humana Full Access H5216-192 (PPO). A rename alone does not change your coverage, but it can be confusing when you compare documents side by side.

Separately, 22 continuing plans have at least one change for 2027 on premium, deductible, type or name. That is the kind of detail your Annual Notice of Change spells out. Read it before you decide whether to stay or switch.

Dates and dollars for 2027

The Annual Enrollment Period runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2026. A change made in that window takes effect Jan. 1, 2027. If you take no action, your current plan simply renews — assuming it is being offered next year — with whatever changes its ANOC describes.

A few program-level 2027 figures CMS has confirmed:

The 2027 Part B standard premium and deductible, and the 2027 IRMAA income brackets, have not been announced yet. CMS typically publishes those figures later in the fall.

If you miss the Dec. 7 window, the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (Jan. 1 – March 31, 2027) still gives Medicare Advantage members one chance to switch to another MA plan or to drop MA and return to Original Medicare.

By the numbers

Medicare Part B premium, 2006–2026

The standard monthly Part B premium has climbed from $88.50 in 2006 to $202.90 in 2026. Hover any point for that year’s premium.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I do nothing during the Annual Enrollment Period?
If your current plan is being offered in 2027, you will stay in it automatically, with the changes described in your Annual Notice of Change. If your plan is on the list of plans not returning to Marion County, you cannot stay in it — you will move to Original Medicare on Jan. 1, 2027 unless you pick a new Medicare Advantage plan during AEP or during the Special Enrollment Period for a non-renewed plan.
My plan is leaving. How long do I have to pick a new one?
When your Medicare Advantage plan is not renewed, you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that generally runs from Dec. 8, 2026 through the end of February 2027. You can also make your choice during AEP (through Dec. 7, 2026) so your new coverage starts Jan. 1 with no gap.
Does a plan being "new for 2027" mean it is better?
No. New just means it was not offered in Marion County for 2026. A new plan may or may not fit your doctors, your drugs or your budget. Use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov to compare specifics, and read the Summary of Benefits before you enroll.
Where can I get help comparing plans in Indianapolis?
Start at medicare.gov, where the Plan Finder shows every Medicare Advantage and Part D plan available in your ZIP code with your drugs and pharmacies factored in. You can also call 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048), 24 hours a day, seven days a week. ## Where to go next For the official plan details — premiums, networks, drug lists and star ratings — use the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE. Watch for your Annual Notice of Change in the mail, and if your plan is one of the 14 not returning to Marion County, mark your calendar for Dec. 7, 2026 and the Special Enrollment Period that follows.
