What UnitedHealthcare is offering in Marion County for 2027
For plan year 2027, UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage lineup in Marion County includes 4 HMO-POS plans and 7 PPO plans. All 11 include Part D prescription drug coverage. The table below lists every UnitedHealthcare plan available in the county for 2027, with its plan type and drug-coverage status.
What's new, what's gone, what's been renamed
Compared with 2026, UnitedHealthcare has made a few year-over-year changes in Marion County:
- Not returning for 2027: 1 plan.
- New for 2027: 0 plans.
- Renamed for 2027: 3 plans. UHC Dual Complete IN-Q1 (PPO D-SNP) was previously called UHC Dual Complete IN-D001. UHC PathWays Dual Care IN-Y1 (PPO D-SNP) was previously UHC PathWays Dual Care IN-S1. UHC PathWays Dual Care IN-YL (PPO D-SNP) was previously UHC PathWays Dual Care IN-S3.
A rename does not automatically mean the plan works the same way it did in 2026. For every renewing plan, UnitedHealthcare mails an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) each fall; that document spells out what is different for 2027 — premiums, cost-sharing, the drug formulary, the provider network, extra benefits. If you are already enrolled, read it.
HMO-POS vs. PPO, and what a Special Needs Plan is
A quick refresher so the lineup makes sense:
- HMO-POS plans use a network of doctors and hospitals, usually ask you to pick a primary care doctor, and may require referrals. The "POS" (point of service) piece lets you go out of network for certain services, usually at a higher cost.
- PPO plans also have a network but typically let you see out-of-network providers without a referral, usually at higher cost-sharing.
- Special Needs Plans (SNPs) limit enrollment to people who meet specific criteria. A D-SNP is for people with both Medicare and Medicaid. A C-SNP is for people with a qualifying chronic condition. An I-SNP is for people who live in or need the level of care typically provided in a nursing facility.
Eligibility rules for SNPs are strict, and the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov will tell you whether you qualify.
How to check a plan against your doctors and prescriptions before December 7
Before you enroll in or switch to any plan, check three things against your real life:
1. Your doctors and hospitals. Use the plan's provider directory (on the carrier's website) or ask the office directly whether they take the specific plan for 2027 — not just "UnitedHealthcare." Plan networks differ. 2. Your prescriptions. Enter each drug, dose, and preferred pharmacy into the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. You will see which plans cover each drug, what tier it is on, and estimated yearly costs. Formularies can change year to year. 3. The ANOC, if you're renewing. The 2027 Annual Notice of Change lists every difference from 2026.
Three places give you unbiased answers: medicare.gov (Plan Finder is the most powerful tool), 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048, 24/7), and the plan's own Evidence of Coverage document.
The 2027 dates and dollars worth knowing
- Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 – December 7, 2026. Changes take effect January 1, 2027.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment: January 1 – March 31, 2027, for people already in a Medicare Advantage plan who want one chance to switch.
- Part D out-of-pocket cap: $2,400 in 2027 (up from $2,100 in 2026). Once your out-of-pocket drug spending hits that limit, you pay $0 for covered Part D drugs for the rest of the year.
- Part D maximum deductible: $700 in 2027 (up from $615 in 2026). Many plans use a lower deductible.
- Medicare Prescription Payment Plan: optional on any Part D plan, lets you spread your drug costs across the calendar year in monthly bills instead of paying at the pharmacy.
- 2027 Part B premium, deductible, and IRMAA brackets: not yet announced. CMS typically publishes these in the fall, usually November.
If you do nothing during the enrollment window and your current plan is still offered in 2027, it renews automatically with the changes described in its ANOC.
