Medicare Open Enrollment 2027: the Annual Enrollment Period, Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, 2026
Medicare Open Enrollment and Medicare Annual Enrollment are two names for the same window, the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): from October 15 to December 7, 2026, anyone with Medicare can join, switch or drop a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan, for coverage that starts January 1, 2027.
It is on now: 52 days left to December 7, 2026.
This page keeps the dates, what the window allows and what changes for the year in one place, with every state's plan-change and top-rated pages below. Program-level information only: no plan is named, ranked or recommended.

Watch on YouTubeWhat you can do during Open/Annual Enrollment 2027
- Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another, or from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan.
- Leave a Medicare Advantage plan for Original Medicare, and add a stand-alone Part D drug plan.
- Join, switch or drop a Part D drug plan.
A change made in the window starts January 1, 2027. If you do nothing and your plan continues, you stay in it; your plan's Annual Notice of Change, mailed by September 30, lists what is different.
Medigap (Medicare Supplement) policies are not part of this window: their own open enrollment is the six months after you enroll in Part B at 65. Our Medigap guides by state cover it.
